US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin recently announced that he and Congress will change how the military handles sexual assault cases. The individual chiefs of the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force are not fully supportive of the shift, but acknowledge that the military has not made enough progress addressing sexual assault and harassment within their ranks. Retired Colonel Don Christensen handled dozens of assault cases during his 20 years in the military, including four years as chief prosecutor for the US Air Force. Christensen is now president of Protect Our Defenders, which is an advocacy group focused on ending sexual violence in the military. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak, File)
