Disabled Casting

The vast majority of characters with disabilities in film and television are portrayed by actors who do not have the same disability. Not only is that considered acceptable, those actors often get all kinds of Oscar buzz for portraying the disability so convincingly. But if you’re an actor with a disability, you’ll probably only ever get cast to play characters with that same disability. It’s a double standard that actor Kurt Yaeger has been caught in many times. He has a lower leg amputation, and he's an activist for disability rights in entertainment. Yaeger’s been in NCIS, Sons of Anarchy, L.A.’s Finest, Another Life, and more.
