Important conversations and encouraging words to help you make every day a great one. Growing Out Your Hair (00:00) Stylist Michelle Lindsay joins Lisa to discuss the secrets to growing out your hair and keeping it healthy. Conflict Resolution (15:14) Emily de Schweinitz Taylor, author of Raising Mediators: How Smart Parents Use Mediation to Transform Sibling Conflict and Empower Their Children, joins Lisa to talk about conflict and how to confront it rather than how to avoid it. Happy Children Do Chores (32:24) Research says that doing chores will actually benefit children in the long run. KJ Dell’Antonia is the author of her new book How to be a Happier Parent. She’s here to tell us how having your children help with chores will make them happier. And how it will ultimately make you a happier parent. KJ Dell’Antonia is a former New York Times Reporter and was the lead editor for the New York Times Motherlode blog from 2011 until 2016. Siblinghood (50:34) Did you ever fight with your siblings over the smallest things? Like where you were sitting at the table, who held the remote, or who the person who got to pull the wishbone after the turkey. Siblinghood is filled with all sorts of problems: fighting, rivalry, favoritism, conflicting personalities and change. BYU Family Life professor, Alex Jensen, Ph.D. is here today to talk to us a little bit about these stumbling blocks. The Success of Netflix (1:06:22) Hopelessly romantic movies, docuseries, or comedy specials: you name it, Netflix has it. What at the beginning of the century was only a weekly or monthly DVD in the mail has expanded to stream movies, TV shows, and everything in between to over 190 countries. We are talking with Professor Louis Brennan Ph.D about why and how this success came to be. Dr. Louis Brennan is a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin and a professor within the Trinity Business School where he teaches and researches in the field of Global Business. He has lived and worked in Asia, Australia, Europe and the USA. His passion is around mediating and shaping the future. Be a Better Person (1:23:54) Have you ever grabbed a pen from work and forgot it was tucked behind your ear when you left? Then worried that people think you are conspiring to steal office supplies? Often we get so attached to others seeing us as a good person that we aren’t focusing on what it really means, to be continually better. In her TED talk social scientist Dolly Chugh, Ph.D., addresses this struggle and is speaking with us about it today. Dolly Chugh, Ph.D. is a Professor of Business at NYU as well as an author of her recent book, The Person You Mean to Be: How Good People Fight Bias. She studies implicit bias and unintentional unethical behavior. You can visit her website here.
