In this hour, Sam's childhood thoughts about becoming a writer lead to a conversation with Dallas Graham, the man behind an inititive called The Red Fred Project. The project consists of writing collaborations between Mr. Graham and young creatives who are navigating critical or chronic illness. At the heart of each book created by the project, you'll find a cast of characters comprising a bunch of colorful birds, themselves comprised of commas. You'll be inspired by the project, and you'll enjoy our conversation with Dallas. You'll also hear Syd Lieberman tell a traditional story called "The Wise Shoemaker of Studena," one of Syd's many traditional Jewish stories that we love. Weaving in and out of the episode segments, you'll enjoy the music of Aimee Nolte, a wonderful pianist, singer, and songwriter living in Southern California. Aimee visited the studio to promote her upcoming album, and we happened to catch her. You'll feel lucky we did.
