Turtle researchers have to spend a great deal of time traipsing through woods and grasses just trying to spot turtles. Luckily, many research groups have a secret weapon to speed up the work - a pack of dogs specifically trained to sniff turtles. John Rucker is a dog trainer who travels the US with his dogs to hunt down the turtles. And wildlife veterinarian Sharon Deem needed the dogs to find box turtles in Missouri, so she could track a deadly reptile disease. Deem is also the director of the St. Louis Zoo Institute for Conservation Medicine.
