Soles4Souls (0:00:00) Now that winter is just around the corner, what is the first thing we do before stepping outside our homes into the November cold? We put our shoes on. Sadly, there is a huge population in the world that doesn’t have the luxury of owning a pair of shoes. It can be dangerous to not have access to your own shoes, especially in countries with extreme heat or hazardous road conditions. This is what inspired the creation of Soles4Souls, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting against world poverty through donations of new and used shoes. We’ve invited director of national partnerships Megan Walsh on the show to talk with us about her experience with the organization and how far donating a pair of shoes can go. Handling Challenges with Music (0:11:41) Can music really help us through the hard parts of life? Paul Cardall has topped multiple Billboard charts, and he now joins us to talk about how music keeps him going. Winter Survival Skills (0:34:55) Snow is starting to fall and skiers are anxious to hit the slopes. With all of the winter fun to be had, how often do we think about our safety and what we would do if we ever got stuck in a dangerous situation? Luckily for us, nature skills expert Jason Knight joins us to share how we can best prepare for being safe during our many winter activities and what to do in case of an emergency.  How to Argue Effectively (0:51:07) You just slammed the door after shouting and now you’re in tears. That’s not how that discussion was supposed to go. You both seem to have this “arguing” thing all wrong. But is there another way? A recent study shows that couples that argue effectively are 10 times more likely to have a happy relationship, so what does it mean to “argue effectively?” Dr. Elsbeth Meuth is the visionary and founder of the Human Relationship Mastery movement, a global initiative to transform human relationships into co-creative thriving partnerships. She joins us to share ways to argue the right way. Gratitude (1:07:55) We’ve all seen the 30 days of gratitude posts people are doing this month on social media. With Thanksgiving coming up, gratitude is on everyone’s mind. According to a Miami study, there are physical outcomes to practicing gratitude. So what are they? And how can we become more grateful? Friend of the show Ganel-Lyn Condie is back to talk about gratitude.  Procrastination Anxiety (1:28:17) With so many things going on in our lives, there could be times where we put things off. While this may give us temporary relief, procrastinating can actually lead to more stress and more things to get done. But what if your repeated procrastination is actually due to feelings of anxiety or depression? Alice Boyes is a former clinical psychologist turned author. She explains how this could be the case.
