(3:14) "Red, Red Lips" by Donna Washington: Have you ever been afraid of the dark? Most people have! Not knowing what lies in the darkness can be a fright to most people at one time in their life or another. In this story from Donna Washington, she tells of a young boy who is terrified of the dark. Night after night, he is visited by a witch who tries to make him afraid. To no avail, he cannot make her go away. How will he get out of this scary situation? Listen to this story to find out! (20:40) Radio Family Journal by Sam Payne: Sam shares a memory about a time he, and the rest of the 4th grade class, were scared silly in elementary school. How would you react if you came in from recess to find your classroom completely dark with only a few candles? What came next gave Sam and his classmates a good scare. We hope you find some fun thrills and laughter in this Radio Family Journal. (26:29) Old Time Radio Drama "War of the Worlds": This radio drama, performed by Orson Welles and his theater troupe, is a classic spooky story from 1938. Based on the novel from H. G. Wells, this troupe brings to life the story of an alien invasion from Mars. While the story is fake, the performance makes it feel incredibly real. We're excited to share this old time radio drama with you. We hope you enjoy "War of the Worlds" by Orson Welles and The Mercury Theater on the Air.
