After spending time in jail and experiencing abuse Sheila Raye Charles, daughter of Jazz legend Ray Charles, has used her musical heritage to tell her story through song. Today she performs special concerts and life classes for troubled youth and victims of abuse. She also travels to state penitentiaries to share her hopeful message and to lift and encourage others.  These performances are in addition to her national and international performances at well-known venues, including a recent concert at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City for an audience of 20, 000 people.  Steven Kapp Perry explores her past, present and future dreams as an author, singer, songwriter and motivational speaker. Sheila sings a testament of her own life in her original song ‘Behind the Shades’ as well as her father’s classics ‘Georgia On My Mind’ and ‘Hit the Road Jack’ with pianist Masa Fukuda.  Follow Highway 89 on twitter @HWY89LIVEmusic
