In a recent episode of The Apple Seed, you heard (in addition to stories from Carmen Deedy, Adam Booth, and more) a song performed by Mike Agranoff and his friends called "Sing that Stephen Foster Song." The song got us thinking about Stephen Collins Foster, the song's namesake, who was one of America's greatest songwriters. He wrote Oh Susannah, Hard Times Come Again No More, Old Folks at Home, My Old Kentucky Home, and nearly countless others. His story is a sad one, but it's a great one. We thought you might like to hear it as today's Apple Seed Extra.
