We always hope the stories we share on The Apple Seed spark memories that you can share with the people that you love. And on today's episode, you'll hear stories from the childhoods of Kim Weitkamp, Syd Lieberman, and Michael Reno Harrell that will hopefully get you thinking about some of your own adventures growing up. You'll also hear a couple of stories from Kevin Cordi and Joe Herrington featuring characters who use their wit to get what they want. On today's episode, enjoy the following: "A Simple Story" by Kim Weitkamp (10:55) Kim Weitkamp is one of the featured storytellers at this year's Timpanogos Storytelling Festivals, one of the largest of its kind. This year it'll be a virtual event. For more info and to hear Kim's stories go to timpfest.org. In this story, Kim talks about just how powerful the telling a 'Simple Story' is in impacting people's lives. "Trash Talk" by Kevin Cordi (3:43) Have you ever wanted a little peace and quiet but the people in your life make achieving that difficult? Then take a listen to "Trash Talk" from Kevin Cordi. In this story, an old man devises the perfect plan for getting rid of some noisy neighborhood kids. "Harvard Man" by Syd Lieberman (15:01) Syd Lieberman is no longer with us but he left a legacy of stories, performances, and recordings that can enrich just about anyone who cares to listen to them. In this story, Syd shares some musings surrounding his days as a "Harvard Man". "Dillon" by Joe Herrington (4:31) Joe Herrington has made a reputation for himself as a 'cowboy poet'. And this story called "Dillon" certainly helps cement that moniker. It's about a cowboy who's willing to bet on just about anything. "Stay Out of Them Old Cars" (18:03) As a kid, were there places your parents told you to never visit? Well, for North Carolina-based storyteller and musician, Michael Reno Harrell, that meant no jumping into old cars full of snakes, spiders, and broken glass. In addition to this story, Michael will also treat you to a song.
