Do any of these sound like you? Refusing to ask for help, easily bored, need for constant validation? Then you might be a burned-out gifted kid. Recently, a bingo chart was going around the internet with a list of items that indicate you might be a “gifted burnout.” When a child is gifted, it’s natural to want to foster and celebrate that. We give them special education, music lessons, and extra big books to read. But these things can also add extra pressure to our kids, resulting in burn out later in life. So what is gifted burnout and how can we help our gifted children avoid it? Here to share her advice with us is psychotherapist and gifted educator and expert Paula Prober.
