Vitiligo Empowerment

Vitiligo is an auto-immune disease where skin loses its pigmentation. It can be quite conspicuous and potentially devastating for a person’s self-esteem. Photographer Jasmine Colgan was in her 20s when she received the diagnosis. She started photographing herself and then doing portraits of other people with vitiligo to explore the beauty and challenges of it. Her nonprofit is called Tough Skin, and it recently hosted the first-ever World Vitiligo Day. (Segment produced by Lynsey Call)
