People drove less in 2020 because of pandemic restrictions, but traffic fatalities actually rose to the highest levels in more than a decade. That's according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If you break those deaths down by race, Black people died more than any other racial demographic. That’s a continuation of a long-time trend that shows America’s streets are especially unsafe for people of color.
