Call it what you will—mazel, karma, fate, luck, fortune, providence—there’s a mysterious force of coincidence in many of our classic tales. Our storytelling canon is filled with unlikely meetings, improbable competitions, and extremely case-specific magical items. But whether our characters are guided by some higher fate or have to make their own luck, we seem to love a little happenstance in our stories. Today, we’re bringing you stories of bad luck, good luck, and everything in between from Jenni Cargill-Strong, Carol Birch, Norah Dooley, and Noa Baum. Who knows, maybe a bit of this episode’s good luck will rub off on you! On today’s episode, enjoy the following: Radio Family Journal: “Hans in Luck” Story Kickoff: "Hanukkah Basics and Thoughts on Luck" by Joel ben Izzy on Lights and Laughter Story Spotlight: "Luckless One" by Jenni Cargill-Strong Storytime: "Sure, I'm Lucky" by Carol Birch on Lou Gehrig: The Story of a Great Man "Rozzone's Rotten Luck" by Norah Dooley on Italian Folktales: Stories Nobody Told Me “Yankel & the Sabbath Fish" by Noa Baum on Far Away and Close to Home
