William Primrose was a legendary violist renowned for his musicianship, teaching-style and writings. In fact he was so beloved (and still is) that he actually has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! After he passed away in 1982 BYU started an annual memorial concert in his name and the 2014 guest artist is Tim Deighton. Mr. Deighton performs here with fellow violist and BYU Faculty member Claudine Bigelow. Tim Deighton currently teaches viola at Penn State University. He sits on the board of the New York Viola Society and was formerly on the board of the American Viola Society. He’s recorded a solo CD “Viola Aotearoa” on the Atoll label featuring music of New Zealand composers; and he regularly premieres and commissions new music for viola. Repertoire: SCHUBERT Sonatina for violin and piano in D Major, Op. 137; BRIDGE Lament for two violas; SCHUBERT Litany for All Soul’s Day Follow Highway 89 on twitter @byuH89
