The pen is mightier than the sword! Or so the saying goes... Either way, the words we say matter and they come in all different forms. There are magical words we learn from bedtime stories, naughty words we probably shouldn’t be learning in the first place, or (best of all) kind words we learn from those we love that soften even the hardest hearts. Today we’ll hear stories all about language and all the confusing and funny ways that it impacts our lives from the great tellers Kevin Carr, Willy Claflin, and Laura Bobrow. And then you can decide for yourself if the pen truly is mightier than the sword. From the Fillmore West to the Oregon Country Fair, from the former Soviet Union to Spain, from Alaska to Mexico, he's traveled to play with and learn from traditional musicians, to gather stories to share and to connect with folks through the ecstatic medium of music. He performs solo shows such as "The Other Pipes - exotic and little known Bagpiping traditions of the World", " Stories from the Musical Realms - Concerning Inspiration and the Music between the Notes", "My Grandfather's Fiddle," and "Fiddle Fables - Stories by and about Fiddlers" with tunes appropriate and appropriated." He also performs with various groups who tour all over the world.
