Vegetarianism in America was strongly promoted by the Bible Christian Church as a foundational behavior that would prepare the way for abolition and women’s rights. This movement eventually inspired the health crusade of Sylvester Graham. That graham cracker attributed to him? He probably wouldn't have approved of the ones we're enjoying today.
