Winter Solstice (0:00:00) WYou are probably familiar with the term "winter sostice," from grade school, where you learned about the shortes day of the year being somtime in December. But did you know that this time of year has always been celebratory for many cultures? Joining us today to talk about some of the traditions of the Winter Solstice is professor of sociology at Black Hills State University, Laura Comenero-Chilberg.  Protect Young Minds (0:15:43) There’s an unaddressed evil trying to creep into the minds of our precious kids. The rates of child pornography use are skyrocketing, and it’s easy to feel helpless against such a massive force. But there are many simple things we can do to armor our children and teach them to reject this poison. Kristen Jenson joins us to talk about this issue. She is the founder of the anti-porn organization Protect Young Minds and author of Good Pictures Bad Pictures, a book that teaches kids how to resist porn early. Holiday Fever Board Game (0:35:38) This holiday season, we have a new game to play with our families that combines all things Christmas with the fun of a board game—creating the perfect opportunity to bond with our loved ones. This game is called Holiday Fever, and we have the creator, Evan Shelline, on the show to tell us all about it. Preparing for Seasonal Depression (0:50:39) There are so many great things about winter! There are fun holiday parties, nice breaks from work and school, and the promise of a new year just around the corner. But despite these good things, for those that experience seasonal depression the winter can be a seriously trying time. If you or a loved one has had a difficult bout of what’s sometimes termed Seasonal Affective Disorder, you may be worried as we head into the winter months. So what can we do to prepare to get through the winter? Here to talk us through it is Dr. Deborah Serani psychologist and award-winning author of "Living with Depression.” Christmas Traditions (1:06:28) Lisa and Richie talk about their favorite Christmas Traditions. Weekend Review (1:28:14) Lisa and Richie share what new movies and fun activities are happening this weekend.
