The International Space Station got in a fender-bender recently when some flying debris punctured one of its arms. Collisions like this are happening more and more frequently as Earth’s orbit becomes more crowded with new satellites and aging ones that are becoming, more often than not, just space trash. NASA’s developed a plan to clean up orbit. Ben Reed, former Deputy Director of the Satellite Servicing Projects Division at NASA, explains.
