Today we’ve got a special hour of stories coming your way starting with a tale from Jenni Cargill-Strong. Jenni Cargill-Strong is an Australian storyteller who has accumulated five award-winning albums, more stories than we’d even know what to do with – all of them original, ancestral, and contain lots of wisdom. Now, Jenni Cargill-Strong is ready to share some of that wisdom with us in her story, “The Monkey’s Heart” which comes from India. In this adventure, a young monkey and a young crocodile are friends until one day the crocodile’s mother says that the young croc must betray the monkey and bring back the monkey’s heart. But don’t fret for the monkey just yet because a quick wit can make the difference between getting lunch, and being lunch. Afterward, we’ll enjoy stories from Stephanie Beneteau, Dovie Thomason, Anne Rutherford, and as always, an entry in the radio family journal and a conversation with a friend. You won’t want to miss a second! On today’s episode, enjoy the following: “The Monkey’s Heart” by Jenni Cargill-Strong on Reaching for the Moon (1:35) Radio Family Journal: "Smaug" by Sam Payne (15:05) The Daily Mix: "The Worst Pies in London" with Steven Kapp Perry (21:05) “The Wood Maiden” by Stephanie Beneteau on Dreaming Tall: Stories for Growing Girls (29:45) “Frog’s Teeth” by Dovie Thomason on Voices of the Animal People (40:48) “Moonwatching with Grandma” by Anne Rutherford on On the Great Pacific Flyway: Songs and Stories Celebrating Portland's Migratory Birds (51:40)
