Human Trafficking (1:05) Guest: Noy Thrupkaew, Journalist  Human Trafficking is Top of Mind today. When I said that just now, I imagine sex trafficking came to your mind. It’s true, forced prostitution is an element of the problem. But according to journalist Noy Thrupkaew, it’s not the majority of the problem. And to assume so masks reality in way that makes helping its millions of victims more difficult.  Noy Thrupkaew has investigated and written about human trafficking while reporting extensively from around the world. Her 2015 TED Talk on the subject has been viewed 3/4s of a million times.  Purebred and Homegrown: America’s County Fairs (27:41) Guests: Drake Hokanson and Carol Kratz, Authors of “Purebred and Homegrown -- America’s County Fairs" It’s county fair season across America. Gardeners are trotting out their giant squashes and prized peaches. Home cooks are hoping to win a blue ribbon for their famous pie recipe. And eager young 4H-ers are hoping a good showing for the sheep and goats and cows will lead to a handsome price at auction. And then there are the politicians, shaking hands and kissing babies in the most American of venues.  American Heritage (50:43) Guest: Grant Madsen, Ph.D., Professor of History at BYU  Grant Madsen of BYU’s History department talks about American Foreign Policy.  Football Stadium Economy (1:16:12) Guest: Roger Noll, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Economics at Stanford  The excitement starts well before game day. For decades, cities have been falling over themselves to attract an NFL team. Sealing the deal requires a state-of-the-art stadium, which taxpayers have long been asked to subsidize for the promise of major economic benefits. But on that score, Stanford economist Roger Noll says NFL stadiums fail to live up to the hype.
