The Apollo 8 mission captured an image of Earth that amazed the billion people watching it on TV at the time: the cratered but barren surface of the moon in the foreground, and the Earth in the black sky beyond, nearly half-eclipsed by the shadow of the moon. Referring to this view, Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell said, "The vast loneliness is awe-inspiring and it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth." How the "Earthrise" photo changed our perspective on our planet. Guest: Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee, Emmy nominated filmmaker and director of "Earthrise: The Image that Shared our World"
