Increasing Attachment in Grandfamilies (0:16:42) Contemporary society has come a long way from the picket-fences and nuclear family composed of mom, dad, and their 2.8 children of the 1950’s. Family households are structured in myriad ways that were rare, if found at all, in the early to mid 20thcentury. In fact, the fastest growing household structure in the US are grandparent headed families, or grandfamilies. However, grandfamilies come with their own circumstances and challenges that are unique to this family unit.
