Sailing Adventures (0:00:00) While taking an adventure might seem like something out of reach, we hope that you are still making exciting plans and wishlists for the future. Adventure can bring so much meaning to your life and you learn so much about yourself and the world around you. If you are hoping to take an adventure with a significant other and you are unsure what is a fit for you, we have an exciting segment today to answer those questions. We are joined by friend of the show John Zeratsky as he tells us about how he and his wife lived and cruised on a sailboat throughout Central America for 18 months! Quarantine-Approved Dates (0:17:16) Were you looking forward to taking that special someone on a date before the world shut down? For anyone who’s currently trying to meet people and go on dates, social distancing and stay at home orders has made the process more difficult.... but not impossible. With the use of technology and other creative ideas we can continue to move forward in our dating life. With us today to give us some tips for dating while keeping ourselves and those around us safe is Kim Seltzer. Kim is a certified confidence and dating coach, and a therapist. Racial Inequities and COVID-19 (0:36:36) As we continue to dissect the different aspects of the reality of this COVID-19 pandemic, there are many things to consider. One of those topics is the racial inequity that exists in the medical and social system we live in. Minority communities have many risks and aspects that they must consider in addition to the recommendations they have received from officials. Here to discuss this with us is Dr. Patrice Harris , president of the American Medical Association and a psychiatrist by specialty. Safe, Not Stuck (0:50:41) It’s even easier to slip into a moody version of yourself when you’ve been stuck in the house for a couple of weeks. And when you’re stuck with the same people all day every day, they get to see everything. So, how can we avoid slipping into moody, negative versions of ourselves and be positive through this social isolation time? Wendell Miracle is a Happiness Coach and Motivational Speaker with over 400,000 followers on Instagram. We’ve invited him on the show today to coach us through this time of uncertainty and a rollercoaster of emotions. Mini Book Club: April Reads (1:04:46) Rachel Wadham, of BYU Radio’s Worlds Awaiting, talks to Lisa and Richie about the best books to check out this month. Recovering from Abuse (1:25:32) In the United States, an average of 20 people experience domestic violence every minute equating to more than 10 million abuse victims annually. And during the coronavirus, we’ve seen these numbers skyrocket as Shelter-In-Place rules have led to more isolation and abuse. Unfortunately, recovering from the trauma that comes with abuse can take a very long time. Survivors of abuse have their lives completely rocked and are left often feeling ashamed and confused. We invited Mannette Morgan on the show to talk about how victims of abuse can overcome their challenges and find the peace they are longing for. Mannette is the author of the book “Finding Your Voice: A Path to Recovery for Survivors of Abuse”.
