The average American buys 68 pieces of new clothing every year–that’s five times more than what people bought in the 80s. Trendy clothes are now produced so quickly and cheaply, and available at a click of a button. But fast fashion comes with a huge cost for the planet, economies, and human rights. And while the pandemic has people buying fewer clothes, that’s only exacerbated the problem in the world’s poorest countries.
