If we can't be happy as a single, we cannot expect to feel any happier in a relationship. Matt talks with Michael Broder, Ph.D, an expert on cognitive behavioral therapy. Broder says if you don't "need" another person in your life, although you may certainly "desire" one, you will never allow yourself to be in a bad relationship. He says the only way to do that is to learn how to be comfortable in your own solitude. You won't let a bad relationship rob you of that solitude. He says that means learning to look for "Mr. Right" rather than looking for "Mr. Right Now." Part of that is changing the way we approach someone we begin to date. "Many people when they meet someone the question is 'Is there any reason why I can't be involved with this person?' rather than looking at it more proactively." Broder compares it to an employer hiring the first seemingly-qualified candidate who walks through the door and skip interviewing additional candidates. "You wouldn't think of hiring someone like that."
