How Squirrels Do ParkourTop of Mind with Julie Rose • Season 1, Episode 1726, Segment 2
Nov 8, 2021 • 11m
Have you ever seen a squirrel fall? Doubtful. Squirrels have a remarkable ability to judge distances, leap, and even do parkour. They can land on small ledges and do acrobatics by catching thin bars with their hands. And they can adapt to a changing environment very quickly. Researchers are now studying how they do it so that robots and humans can copy them. Nathaniel Hunt is one of those researchers – he’s a professor of biomechanics at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. (Segment produced by Martha Harris)
