How much difference will it really make for the planet if you drive your car less, recycle your garbage and pay your power company a little more for renewable electricity? Not a lot frankly. But making those changes – and some more radical ones like composting his own poop – brought unexpected benefits to Peter Kalmus’ life. For one thing, he says he’s happier - even though he doesn’t travel by plane anymore and feeds his family food that’s been discarded by grocery stores.
