Known for her paintings of happy cats, colorful flowers, and bright ocean seascapes, Maud Lewis was one of Canada’s most important folk artists. She died in 1970, but her legacy lives on in the form of her painted house, preserved in its entirety in The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
