We never know what life is going to throw at us. One day we could feel completely healthy and the next we could be sitting in a hospital bed unsure of what’s going on. We never think much about our mortality, but when something traumatic happens, it seams to be the only thing we can think about. This can lead to a new set of mental health issues that last far beyond the physical recovery stages. Today we are talking with Angie Collins-Burke, who has the unique experience of both being a nurse and a patient, when she suffered from a stroke in 2013. Since then, she has assisted other stroke survivors as a Stroke Mentor and is the co-author of Just Pick Up The Peg: a Nurse’s Journey From Stroke.
