Dorothy, Barbara, Laura: The Women of the Bush Political Dynasty

Only one woman has ever been First Lady of the United States and lived to see her son sworn in as President of the United States. That woman is Barbara Bush –the matriarch of the Bush political dynasty –who famously said in a graduation speech at Wellesley College in 1990, “Our success as a society depends not on what happens in the White House, but what happens in your house.” But, you have to admit that what happened in the Bush home has had an outsized effect on American society across two presidencies.
