Giles Abbott by Mishko Paapic Giles Abbott was born in London, England, longer ago than he looks. His parents had both been English teachers. His mother, when he was about 5 years, began reading to him first the Iliad, then the Odyssey. I lifelong love of myth and story was born. Three years after completing his studies with a BA in English Lit. from Oxford University, Giles fell seriously ill. The illness destroyed most of his sight and Giles lost, permanently, the ability to read books in four hours. “But,” he says, “that’s how I became a storyteller! I can hardly regret an incident which led me to a life which gives me so much joy! Life deals the cards; play with the hand you’re dealt!” Since then, Giles has gone on to carve a busy storytelling career working with children and adults. He also took a Masters in Voice Studies and now teaches people to speak more effectively, combining lessons from Voice and from Storytelling. In this episode, hear the story "East of Sun, West of Moon."    To learn more about Giles, visit  gilesabbott.com.
