Her research and teaching primarily focus on social inequality, including inequalities by gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and educational level. Nearly 1 in 4 children in the U.S. are in single-parent households, and in the majority of two-parent households both parents are working, yet childcare is generally unaffordable and paid leave is not available to most U.S. parents.
